Description

You will expand and support the organization’s SAP S/4HANA landscape with a focus on Utilities. The role covers the full lifecycle—from requirements to stable operations—combining development and operations and bringing in new technologies, including AI-assisted tooling. You will ensure reliable execution of key energy-sector processes and improve how the team develops, tests, and releases.

Responsibilities

• Develop, extend, and maintain SAP applications and enhancements/interfaces, especially for SAP S/4HANA Utilities
• Analyze complex errors and process relationships; perform root-cause fixes using debugging plus data and process analysis
• Independently design and implement technical solutions from requirement capture to production rollout
• Advise business teams on process design; translate functional requirements into technical solutions and support SAP applications in live operations
• Build and further develop professional test management, including creating, maintaining, and automating unit, integration, and regression tests
• Support releases, migrations, and system rollouts with external consultants and development partners; further develop deployment and operations processes
• Use modern AI-assisted tools to support development, test automation, error analysis, and documentation in line with information security requirements
• Evaluate new technologies and help shape the organization’s digitalization and automation strategy

Requirements

• Completed degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or comparable qualification (or training with relevant continuing education and work experience)
• Experience developing SAP applications with strong ABAP knowledge (including ABAP Objects)
• Strong knowledge of SQL and data modeling
• Strong analytical thinking; structured, independent, and solution-oriented way of working
• Experience with or interest in modern development approaches (e.g., CDS), test automation, and software quality
• Openness to new technologies and responsible use of AI-assisted ways of working
• Communication skills when working with business departments and external partners, plus very good German
• Ideally: knowledge of utilities industry processes (metering, billing, market communication) and experience with SAP IS-U or S/4HANA Utilities
