Description

Own the architecture and implementation of Copilot’s memory substrate at Microsoft 365 scale, including storage, schema, ingestion, retrieval, and the full memory lifecycle. Design and ship pipelines that convert user signals from mail, meetings, documents, and chat into high-precision memory, and deliver retrieval that works at inference time. Set technical direction for privacy, compliance, consent, auditability, and user control while partnering with Applied Science and engineering teams to evaluate and improve memory quality.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and implementation: storage, schema, write path, retrieval, and lifecycle (consolidation, revision, expiry, deletion)
• Build ingestion and retrieval systems: transform signals from Microsoft 365 experiences into memory and retrieve it during inference
• Lead privacy/compliance/user-control design: consent, transparency, tenant & regional boundaries, retention/deletion, auditability
• Partner on evaluation: offline/online metrics and experimentation loops to prove memory improves outcomes
• Raise engineering bar: design/code reviews, live site and observability practices, technical mentorship
• Influence partner alignment: contracts, schemas, and platform capabilities across Microsoft 365, Windows, and the Copilot platform

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field
• 8+ years technical engineering experience coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python (or equivalent experience)
• Ability to meet security screening requirements; pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years

Benefits

• Base pay range (U.S.): USD $165,600 – $296,400; other ranges apply for specific locations
