Description

The Policy and Configuration team is building shared deployment and policy capabilities to help Microsoft Security services ship safely across Azure, regions, and sovereign clouds. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will set technical direction for the control plane, translate complex deployment and compliance requirements into secure self-service developer experiences, and move away from proprietary deployment patterns.

Responsibilities

• Define the architecture and migration path from proprietary tools to standard .NET Aspire and Azure platform capabilities

• Enable secure deployment self-service, reliability, and authoring-time enforcement for compliance and security requirements

• Convert deployment/compliance/security requirements into typed APIs, analyzers, and build gates

• Improve service-team experience with diagnostics, safe upgrade paths, and self-service workflows

• Build production-quality control-plane capabilities with strong test strategy, secure defaults, and zero-touch deployment where possible

• Drive technical agreements across .NET, Azure, CISO/security, and service team partners

• Lead design reviews, incident learning, and reusable engineering practices; grow shared modern cloud development and AI-assisted engineering practices

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field

• 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python (or equivalent experience)

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check at hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
