Description

We are looking for an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator to support a new PostgreSQL-based system in the payments domain. You will build expertise in PostgreSQL within a DBA team and take ownership of existing PostgreSQL databases while administering and improving them in production.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain PostgreSQL databases, including taking over existing environments from other teams
• Analyze performance and tune queries, indexes, and database structures
• Design and maintain partitioning and ensure index consistency
• Configure and monitor replication, backups, and restores
• Plan and perform PostgreSQL upgrades to newer versions
• Collaborate with the software vendor and development teams
• Share knowledge through workshops, documentation, and mentoring
• As needed: participate in database architecture discussions
• During periods of lower PostgreSQL demand: support the team with MS SQL and Oracle

Requirements

• Practical production experience in PostgreSQL administration
• Experience in performance tuning: query plan analysis, indexes, partitioning
• Knowledge of replication, backup, and restore processes
• Experience with PostgreSQL version upgrades
• Experience taking over and organizing existing environments (verification, completing documentation)
• Good knowledge of SQL
• Willingness to share knowledge
• Communicative English (collaboration with a vendor)
