Quick Facts
Role: Senior Electrical Systems Engineer
Focus: End-to-end electrical engineering programs for PCB and/or superconducting integrated circuits
Key themes: Supplier/manufacturing engagement, multidisciplinary coordination, schedules and budget ownership
Description
Lead complex electrical engineering initiatives across PCB and/or superconducting integrated circuit development, validation, integration, and sustaining activities. Drive PCB supplier and manufacturing engagements, improve development/manufacturing processes, and coordinate cross-functional teams to meet business-critical milestones. Communicate clearly with technical and executive audiences and synthesize inputs into decision frameworks.
Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end planning and execution for electrical engineering initiatives (PCB and/or superconducting integrated circuits), including validation, integration, sustaining, program schedules, critical paths, risk mitigation, and cross-team dependencies.
Coordinate PCB supplier and manufacturing engagements: capability assessments, technical reviews, readiness evaluations, process development, stack-ups, design rules, yield improvement, cost optimization, and performance tracking.
Partner across qubit design, electrical, mechanical, systems, reliability, sourcing, supply chain, fabrication partners, contract manufacturers, system integrators, and leadership to align deliverables and resolve blockers.
Develop and improve electrical/PCB development processes, documentation, quality frameworks, design review practices, design for manufacturing (DFM), testability, validation workflows, manufacturing readiness processes, and reporting dashboards.
Own program budget, resource, and portfolio planning: build costs, vendor non-recurring engineering (NRE), capital needs, engineering resource forecasts, cost scenario modeling, actuals tracking, and alignment to fiscal expectations.
Communicate across technical and executive audiences; influence outcomes without direct authority; mentor planning coordinators and engineers.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering, or related field with 6+ years industry/R&D experience OR Master’s with 4+ years OR Doctorate with 1+ year OR equivalent experience.
Ability to meet security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check every two years.
Ability to verify citizenship/status for access to export-controlled information.
Ability to work in an “AI-first” environment using modern AI tools.
Ability to use and help build AI agents/copilots for experimental workflows (e.g., instrument configuration, maintenance tracking, safety/readiness checklists, protocol templating, logbook summarization, and knowledge retrieval from manuals and configuration documentation).
Benefits
Eligible for benefits and other compensation (role-specific).
Typical base pay ranges vary by level/location; see company pay information for details.
