Description

This internship supports the product lifecycle from concept to design, development, manufacturing, and field operation through design-in confirmation, with an emphasis on improving reliability for industrial and residential energy products. The role focuses on critical electronics circuit design and power electronics circuit validation using electrical hardware design, control, and firmware skills. Hands-on testing with power electronics systems and HV circuit designs is required.

Responsibilities

• Create customized product designs to understand electrical and thermal limits for critical failure modes
• Design electrical architecture and electronics circuits, including processor selection and integration to enhance automation of electrical reliability test engineering
• Conduct root-cause analysis for advanced power electronics circuits and collaborate with design and manufacturing teams for current and future products
• Document design requirements, calculations, and power budgets
• Create a validation plan and verify features and interfaces across corners
• Lead and execute corner-case subsystem and component tests, including detailed modeling and design guideline development

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field
• Demonstrated depth in printed circuit board (PCB) design, plus experience with high-performance processors and microcontrollers
• Strong understanding of digital and analog circuits, with hands-on experience in switching-mode power circuits
• Ability to deconstruct complex test scenarios using logic and analytics to root-cause correlation issues
• Ability to develop reliability tests (environmental, mechanical, and electrical stress testing) is highly preferred
• Basic programming and scripting ability
• Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills

Expected Compensation

$20.00–$50.00 per hour + benefits. Pay varies based on market location and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
