Description

Provide technical leadership for a Data Platform team by defining the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap. Build scalable, reliable, and well-governed data platform capabilities that support analytics, AI, and business-critical products. Collaborate closely with engineering and product leadership to drive decisions and guide teams through complex technical challenges.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the Data Platform technical vision, roadmap, and architecture
• Set engineering standards, best practices, and reusable patterns with Enterprise Architecture
• Drive engineering excellence through improvements in code quality, testing, observability, reliability, and operational practices
• Support end-to-end delivery by improving decision-making and contributing to planning and risk management
• Mentor engineers, champion AI-assisted development, and promote engineering automation

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, or equivalent senior individual contributor leadership role
• Strong background in data platforms, distributed systems, and cloud-native architectures
• Experience shaping technical direction across teams and stakeholders
• Expertise with AWS and technologies such as Terraform, Kafka/MSK, Airflow, Glue, or Spark
• Modern data ecosystem experience: data lakes/lakehouse, Iceberg (or similar table formats), and both batch and streaming processing
• Knowledge of data quality, governance, cataloguing, and observability tools (e.g., Datadog)
• DBT or AI-assisted engineering practices are a plus
