Description

Lead end-to-end platform engineering and lifecycle management for an internal Kubernetes platform. You will build infrastructure automation and tools, improve reliability and upgrade time, measure and optimize performance and resource utilization, and create dashboards to increase transparency. You will also help detect issues and develop self-healing solutions where possible, while providing operational support to multiple development teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end platform engineering and lifecycle management on the Internal Kubernetes Platform

  • Build tools and automation to manage the platform infrastructure and services lifecycle

  • Improve reliability, quality, and time to upgrade cluster and service versions

  • Measure and optimize system performance and resource utilization; plan future capacity

  • Build dashboards and visualizations for platform status transparency

  • Detect system issues and develop self-healing solutions where possible

  • Provide operational support and engineering for multiple software development teams

  • Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning

  • Implement infrastructure changes during weekends or outside normal operating hours

  • Support a small team of ~5 and manage monthly scheduling; collaborate with a Global Engineering Team Lead to align local involvement with global workload

Requirements

  • Hands-on administrative knowledge of container and Kubernetes infrastructure, including production environment management and operations

  • Engineering capability to manage infrastructure by developing automation, APIs, and pipelines

  • Core competencies: Linux OS, containers, Kubernetes, and Kubernetes-native systems (e.g., Istio, Cilium, CSI)

  • Scripting ability in shell languages such as Bash

  • Programming ability (structured and OO) in Python or Golang

  • Experience with orchestration tools such as Jenkins and Ansible (core & AAP)

  • Observability experience with Splunk and Datadog

  • Experience with infrastructure lifecycle management and software lifecycle development using GitHub

  • ITIL awareness

  • Proactive approach to spot problems, improvement areas, and performance bottlenecks

  • Proficiency in English and ability to communicate at a business level with stakeholders
