Description

You will lead, mentor, and grow a team of ~8–10 systems and backend engineers that own the platform layer behind the bidding platform, covering deployment, monitoring, databases, load balancing, and Kubernetes. You will set the platform vision and roadmap, delegate ownership of areas like monitoring, deployment, and security, and deliver self-service platforms with clear usage contracts so business teams can ship autonomously. The role also includes data-driven decision making, IT-wide capacity planning, and improving alerting to eliminate noisy alarms.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of ~8–10 engineers
• Own the platform vision and roadmap (efficiency, reliability, scalability, security)
• Shape the team’s evolving scope as multiple platform teams may be needed
• Delegate ownership of platform areas to senior engineers
• Build self-service platform capabilities with defined usage contracts (e.g., monitoring metrics and daily watch ownership with application teams)
• Make decisions based on data and experimentation
• Participate in IT-wide capacity planning for platform scaling
• Own the framework for dispatching on-call alarms to the right teams and drive removal of noisy alarms

Requirements

• 2+ years in a technical leadership role (Team Lead/Engineering Manager), including leading project teams
• Strong hands-on background in distributed systems and systems engineering (deployment, monitoring, databases, load balancing)
• Understanding of complex IT systems spanning hardware, software, and algorithms
• Knowledge of concurrent programming and distributed systems
• Critical performance analysis skills from estimation to production optimization
• Strong programming background with ability to dive deep into code reviews
• Experience building platform capabilities as products for other engineering teams, including usage contracts and cross-team rollouts
• Comfort owning an end-to-end technical area and communicating across teams
• Self-directed and proactive approach
• C1-level English and Polish fluency
