Description

Staff and Principal Product Data Scientists will help build a world-class data ecosystem for Slack that supports and scales data-driven product decision-making. You will partner with Product, Design, Engineering, and GTM to define the product landscape, derive actionable insights, and shape product strategy. You will also design and develop Slack’s agentic data delivery platform to enable data self-serve capabilities in an AI/agentic context.

Responsibilities

• Partner with product stakeholders to identify opportunities, prioritize roadmaps, and deliver execution excellence

• Promote evidence-based decision-making and improve accessibility of data and insights

• Evaluate key drivers of increased adoption of Slack product capabilities

• Build success metric frameworks and self-serve reporting for product health

• Prototype foundational data models and work with Data Engineering to create canonical sources of truth

• Contribute to the design and implementation of the agentic data delivery platform

• Quantitatively identify product opportunities to improve user experience and unlock business value

• Collaborate with Product Researchers to align roadmaps and answer complex questions

Requirements

• 5+ years of product data science experience in related tech industries

• Demonstrated record using data to drive product teams and influence company-level outcomes

• Advanced SQL and proficiency in at least one data science language: Python, R, or Scala

• Knowledge of workflow orchestration tools like Apache Airflow (highly desirable)

• Strong foundation in statistics, experimentation, causal inference, machine learning, and analytical problem-solving

• Experience with large-scale distributed data technologies such as Spark, Presto, Hive, Hadoop (or similar)

• Proven ability to communicate complex analytical findings to executive and cross-functional audiences

• Related degree required (BS in a quantitative field; MS/PhD strong plus)
