Description

Own ambiguous, high-impact problem spaces across product and business domains, from framing questions through analysis and solution implementation.

Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to design and evaluate experiments, analyze root causes of metric movements, and build tools and frameworks that improve data-driven decision-making.

Provide senior-level leadership through mentorship and best practices across the data team.

Requirements

• Availability for meetings and impromptu communication during coordination hours (Mon–Fri: 9am–3pm Pacific Time)
• 7+ years experience in an analytical or quantitative role; 5+ years as a Data Scientist (or similar) with senior/staff scope and autonomy
• Proven ability to tackle difficult data questions with deep ownership and cross-functional leadership
• Expertise with statistical techniques (regression, hypothesis testing, causal inference) and practical application
• Experience mentoring data scientists and improving team standards through best practices and process improvements
• Strong communication skills to translate ambiguous business needs into analytical questions and explain technical results to executives and cross-functional partners
• Extensive experience with a procedural programming language (Python or R) for data manipulation, modeling, and analysis; comfort working in a production codebase

Preferred Requirements

• 2+ years evaluating recommender systems in offline analysis and online experiments
• Experience setting technical direction/strategy for a team or major workstream
• Experience with large datasets and distributed computing tools (Presto/Trino)
• Active Quora user with curiosity about the product
