Description

Serve as a technical field application engineering resource for aerospace and defense customers, acting as the interface between customer engineers/program managers and TE Connectivity’s sales and engineering organizations. Support new and existing product application needs by driving opportunities, developing conceptual design models, coordinating project deliverables (including modifications and test studies), and providing follow-up technical support. Use Voice of Customer (VOC) inputs to translate account technology and electronic connectivity needs into internal projects and technical marketing support.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the initial point of contact for the customer’s local engineering group
  • Act as the technical interface between customer engineers and TE engineering on existing products and new product development opportunities
  • Contribute to new product development opportunities and provide conceptual design modeling
  • Interact with key customers daily and coordinate deliverables related to customer projects (new products, product modifications, test studies, signal integrity modeling, and other development efforts)
  • Establish and maintain relationships with customer engineering contacts and decision makers
  • Understand customer product sets and future roadmaps
  • Understand TE ADM products and future roadmaps
  • Use VOC tools to capture account technology/strategic direction and electronic connectivity needs; communicate needs to internal TE teams to initiate projects
  • Support cross-functional, global customer teams (Program Management, Quality, Logistics, Procurement, Operations, Sales)
  • Participate early in customers’ design cycle for new product/platform planning
  • Work with internal engineering teams to ensure customer needs are met and act as a conduit to the customer
  • Represent the customer and advocate for customer requirements
  • Support product and process qualifications
  • Support existing applications and products, including tolerance analysis, application evaluation, and testing

Requirements

  • BS degree in Engineering required (Electrical/Mechanical/Systems preferred)
  • Minimum 8 years of engineering experience in a Military or Aerospace environment
  • Knowledge of electronic components, including TE product lines (connectors, relays, sensors, wire & cable)
  • Knowledge of high reliability system architecture in aircraft and defense subsystems (LRUs, high speed copper and FO cabling, sensor systems, interconnects)
  • Experience in development engineering and full product development cycle participation
  • Proficiency in 3D design applications (Creo, SolidWorks, SpaceClaim, AutoCAD, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret production-level drawings and electrical schematics
  • Ability to perform basic tolerance analysis and design for manufacturing
  • Familiarity with machining and 3D printing for rapid prototype development
  • Demonstrated project leadership; able to organize and prioritize
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiating skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills across all organizational levels
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required (primarily regionally)
  • Strong ability to work independently; outstanding networking, influencing, and listening skills
