Description

In this Application Engineer role, you’ll validate and optimize the equipment portion of HVAC projects—covering equipment selection, pricing, discounts, and submittals. You’ll evaluate project cost savings and cost risks, support sales with preliminary and final submittals, and ensure accurate order-entry setup and job-cost reconciliation. After order close, you’ll provide technical support for installation, startup, warranty/service, and controls to support execution and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize/validate HVAC equipment selection (size, configuration, voltage, options) by reviewing plans, specifications, the original estimate, and proposal
  • Evaluate cost savings and/or cost problems across projects
  • Validate project scope by reviewing transition documents, plans, and specs; identify possible cost savings and problems; plan EQ/VPP dollar breaks; validate quantities and configurations
  • Support sales by developing preliminary and/or final submittals; conduct hold job cost consensus meetings and release submittals; implement necessary changes
  • Maintain competitive advantage by staying abreast of industry trends and negotiating vendor material prices to optimize expenses
  • Prepare correct equipment for order entry; verify equipment pricing and revise coordination worksheets; reconcile job costs
  • Provide technical support after an order is closed for equipment installation execution, including new equipment, start-up, warranty service, and controls equipment

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction, Engineering Technology, or related fields
  • Minimum 2 years of HVAC industry experience in project management or estimating roles (or equivalent combination of education and work experience)
  • Alternatively, minimum 5 years of HVAC industry experience in project management or estimating roles (or equivalent combination of education and work experience)
  • Familiarity with HVAC Systems and/or Temperature Controls (preferred)
  • Flexibility to work outside normal work hours, as required
  • Valid driver’s license for at least 12 months with no major or frequent traffic violations (including no DUI, Hit & Run, license suspension, reckless/careless driving, or multiple infractions)
  • Safety-sensitive role: may require additional drug screening

  • Annual base salary range: $60,000.00–$109,340.00; incentive eligible (no sales commission)
