Description

You will lead and deliver database infrastructure initiatives such as platform evergreen, upgrades, standardization, estate hygiene, and decommissioning. You will build, configure, and manage database environments supporting both cloud and on-prem systems, ensuring security patch compliance and operational readiness. You’ll also consult project teams on database design, resilience, performance tuning, and backup/recovery, and participate in change and incident management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead infrastructure initiatives: platform evergreen, upgrades, standardization, estate hygiene, and decommissioning
  • Build, configure, and manage database environments for cloud and on-prem systems
  • Assess and deploy security patches and critical updates according to internal controls and risk standards
  • Evaluate and prototype new database technologies and features for safe adoption, including cloud databases across major providers
  • Provide internal consultancy for database design, resilience, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and operational readiness
  • Create documentation: standards, procedures, implementation guides, and runbooks
  • Monitor project progress, report status, and identify risks with proactive remediation plans
  • Support change and incident management, troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis, and join on-call rotation when required

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with enterprise RDBMS such as Oracle (RMAN, Data Guard, RAC, Exadata), DB2, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server
  • Ability to quickly learn and adopt new database technologies and platforms
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, or Ansible
  • Strong understanding of IT operations, incident/change management, and controlled production practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization and attention to detail; multitasking and ability to work under pressure
  • Willingness to participate in out-of-hours support
  • Fluent English (B2 or higher)
  • Eligibility to work in the European Union
