• Focus: Lead the AI engine that recommends product features worth building

Description

You’ll own the AI/ML engine’s outputs and shape the technologies and methodology behind product feature recommendations. The system predicts feature desirability based on product business goals, then creates synthetic understanding for why each recommendation is valuable and passes it to an AI-assisted coding agent to build solutions. You will also design AI evaluations, improve cost efficiency, and address scaling and retrieval challenges to process 1M+ products per recommendation.

Responsibilities

• Own the engine outputs and guide the AI pipeline direction (LLMs, advanced statistics, machine learning) alongside another AI engineer and support from the founder and data labelers

• Build and scale the methodology for predicting the likelihood that a product feature will be built

• Design and scale AI evaluations to measure recommendation quality

• Drive AI cost efficiency while maintaining output quality

• Solve scaling challenges required to process 1M+ products for each new recommendation

• Optimize search and retrieval to identify similar products across multiple criteria

• Run deep-dive analyses to improve accuracy, scalability, and performance

• Build a data foundation that enables seamless scaling across Europe

Requirements

• Deep AI expertise and understanding of which AI techniques work best for different tasks

• Strong hands-on experience building AI systems

• Architectural knowledge: reranking, vector databases, neural networks, fine-tuning, model evaluation, advanced statistics, and agentic LLM system design

• Drive to build toward the vision of helping more products succeed using a large product database and automated development

• Growth mindset and motivation by ambitious goals

• Comfortable working asynchronously with clear communication and presentation

• Very good English proficiency (speaking, reading, writing)

• Comfort with limited compute resources and a strategic approach to engineering

• Understand this is not a highly paid opportunity

• Use Claude or similar AI coding tools daily
