Description

Lead and mentor within an agile team building and modernizing secure, stable, and scalable technology products. Build Java/Spring Boot services and re-platform critical applications from on-premises to AWS, improving resiliency, scalability, and observability through distributed integration patterns and event streaming. Drive enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development practices with measurable standards to validate AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance and direction to teams, contractors, and vendors

  • Develop secure, high-quality production code; review and debug others’ code

  • Drive adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices (AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test acceleration, release readiness, incident/root-cause analysis)

  • Use SDLC toolchain knowledge (including AI-assisted development and automation) to scale automation value

  • Influence product design, application functionality, and technical operations/processes

  • Act as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more focus areas

  • Advocate and contribute to firmwide engineering frameworks, tools, and SDLC practices

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts plus 5+ years of applied experience

  • Proven hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability in production environments

  • Advanced Java proficiency for enterprise backend development and strong Spring Boot experience (or equivalent Java frameworks)

  • Hands-on experience designing, building, and operating messaging/event streaming integrations (Kafka, AWS MSK, SQS/SNS, Kinesis), including reliable delivery, error handling, and observability

  • Practical cloud-native experience with AWS (building/deploying/operating services)

  • Experience leading enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools and setting validation expectations for correctness, performance, and security

  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows (data sensitivity, secure handling, resiliency and security), including coaching senior engineers/leads

  • Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
