Description

Own and prioritize product work for a digital marketplace that connects eye care practices, patients, and third-party partners. Lead discovery and requirements definition for core marketplace capabilities—catalog, pricing, inventory, order management, fulfillment, and partner integrations—then guide functionality through delivery and release. Success depends on strong product judgment, technical aptitude, and systems thinking to create scalable and reliable platform improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Own, maintain, and prioritize the Marketplace product backlog based on customer impact, business value, feasibility, scalability, risk, dependencies, and operational needs
  • Work with product leadership and business stakeholders to understand opportunities, needs, and desired outcomes
  • Lead discovery and define requirements for marketplace capabilities (catalog, pricing, inventory, order management, fulfillment, partner integrations)
  • Translate needs into epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, workflows, and development-ready requirements
  • Keep backlog ready to support effective sprint planning and continuous delivery
  • Partner day-to-day with engineering and architecture to make decisions, clarify requirements, and resolve dependencies/trade-offs
  • Evaluate solution approaches to ensure scalability, reliability, and alignment with the broader platform
  • Collaborate with UX/UI and research to incorporate usability findings and customer insights into end-to-end experiences
  • Define integration requirements for vendor/external systems (APIs, data exchange, synchronization, error handling, expected behaviors)
  • Identify edge cases, dependencies, and downstream impacts across users, workflows, integrations, and business rules
  • Lead backlog refinement and participate throughout sprint planning, development, testing, demos, and release
  • Coordinate with engineering and QA to ensure requirements are understood, testable, and delivered; validate outcomes after release
  • Use product data, operational metrics, stakeholder feedback, and customer behavior to measure results and identify improvements
  • Communicate priorities, decisions, trade-offs, risks, and dependencies to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Maintain documentation for product requirements, decisions, and research findings

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in Product Management/Product Ownership (or similar) with meaningful responsibility for defining, prioritizing, and delivering software
  • Strong e-commerce or marketplace experience paired with technical aptitude and product judgment
  • Proven experience owning and prioritizing product backlogs and working directly with software development teams
  • Experience owning platform/backend/systems-focused products in e-commerce, marketplace, SaaS, or transaction-oriented environments
  • Strong understanding of marketplace capabilities: catalog, pricing, inventory, order management, fulfillment, partner ecosystems
  • Ability to translate business and user needs into epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and workflows
  • Strong systems thinking across complex workflows, APIs, integrations, data flows, and dependencies
  • Experience partnering with engineering, architecture, QA, UX/UI, operations, and business stakeholders
  • Agile experience including backlog refinement, sprint planning, development/testing, release planning, and product demos
  • Experience with third-party integrations and API-based systems
  • Ability to identify root causes and develop scalable platform solutions
  • Strong product judgment balancing customer/business value with feasibility, scalability, reliability, risk, and operational needs
  • Data-driven prioritization using product/customer/operational metrics
  • Understanding of modern cloud-based architectures and the software development lifecycle
  • Ability to decide under ambiguity and evaluate trade-offs
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills
  • Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Comfort working independently and collaborating in a distributed international/remote team
  • Ability to contract legally in your country of residence and receive payment from a U.S.-based company
