Engineering Manager, AI Orchestration

Senior

200,000 - 250,000 USD/yr

Mountain View, CA

Quick Facts

  • Role: Lead an engineering team building Orchestrator, a healthcare referral automation product

  • Focus: End-to-end delivery, architecture decisions, and team growth

  • Scope: Intake pipeline, coordinator-facing app, voice automation, and EHR write-back

Description

Orchestrator fixes referral breakages by ingesting referrals (fax, phone, direct EHR feeds), extracting clinical and demographic data, coordinating outbound workflows, and writing results back into the EHR of record. You will lead the existing team shipping a production product with real customers while growing it over the next year. You’ll stay technical and drive integration strategy across durable interfaces and UI automation tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end delivery for Orchestrator (intake pipeline, coordinator app, voice automation, EHR write-back)

  • Grow the team through hiring and raise the technical bar; run recruiting loops and onboard engineers

  • Stay hands-on in design docs, code reviews, and occasional production incidents

  • Set integration strategy, choosing durable interfaces (HL7 v2, FHIR, X12) vs UI automation

  • Prepare the system for growth as referral volume, customer count, and integrations increase

  • Partner with health system IT and clinical operations to translate supported workflows into a generalized product abstraction

  • Coach engineers on scope and provide direct feedback when milestones are not met

Requirements

  • Direct experience building software that integrates with EHRs; shipped and supported an integration against at least one major EHR platform

  • Working fluency in healthcare interoperability: HL7 v2 message structure, FHIR resources, and operational reality of interface engines and site-specific customization

  • Strong full-stack engineering background with production services and integrations

  • At least 1 year managing engineers, plus 5+ years as an IC engineer

  • Comfort with ambiguity; able to derive requirements from real coordinator workflows

  • Track record building products for many customers rather than one-off requests

Benefits

  • Compensation range: $200K–$250K
