Description

Design, develop, and maintain Java-based embedded firmware solutions for embedded systems, with a focus on resolving customer issues involving Gen5 firmware. You will work across the development lifecycle—planning, implementation, testing, and deployment—ensuring timing and performance requirements are met. You will also sustain and upgrade Gen5 and legacy firmware while supporting escalated customer and integration issues.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Java-based embedded firmware solutions using Agile methodologies
  • Write and maintain Java firmware that interfaces with low-level hardware components (sensors, actuators, and communication protocols)
  • Investigate embedded system challenges, provide estimates, and support project planning
  • Collaborate with hardware, systems engineering, and customer support teams to ensure integration and resolve escalated issues
  • Ensure firmware meets timing and performance requirements
  • Use TDD to create unit and functional tests to improve quality and reliability
  • Debug, reproduce, and resolve Gen5 firmware issues using diagnostic tools and methodologies
  • Sustain and upgrade Gen5 and legacy embedded firmware products
  • Explore and implement new embedded technologies and methodologies (power management, memory optimization, low-level drivers)
  • Maintain documentation for firmware development processes and troubleshooting guides

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other technical field
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in embedded systems and Java
  • Must reside within the state of Georgia and be willing to attend on-site meetings and trainings as needed
