Junior Java Software Engineer

We are looking for a Junior Java Software Engineer to join a modern, lean, self-governing engineering team that values transparency and trust. You will work directly with clients on a daily basis to build scalable, high-performance platforms used by external customers to create paradigm-shifting applications and solutions.

Quick Facts

• Hybrid work model requiring 3 days per week from the office

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and product managers to build and maintain scalable, high-performance platforms
• Communicate directly with clients to collect and analyze their needs
• Create documentation, including PRDs, test cases, and design documents
• Work independently as the sole developer on an application from idea to production-ready product when required
• Deliver quality work on time while managing multiple tasks simultaneously
• Apply cloud technologies and microservices architecture principles to project development
• Question the status quo and pursue individual mastery while working autonomously
• Contribute to a culture of purpose, transparency, and trust
• Identify root causes of problems rather than jumping directly to solutions
• Make decisions based on business impact and justify trade-offs between quality and speed

Requirements

• 1+ years of experience with Java, SQL, and unit testing
• Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, continuous integration, and Google Cloud Platform
• BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• Understanding of application security
• Familiarity with Git or another version-control system
• Excellent English communication skills at B2 level and experience with client-facing communications
• Strong self-management and prioritization skills
• Ability to work in an agile environment without direct supervision
• Understanding of information management, data modeling, system integration, and development methodologies

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with Google Cloud Spanner
• Knowledge of gRPC
