Description

We are seeking a Senior User Interface Design Engineer to craft intuitive, high-trust digital experiences across clinical tools and care-facing platforms. You’ll balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution within your product area — from discovery to pixel-perfect delivery — while bringing an AI-fluent mindset as design tooling evolves.

You’ll join a lean, high-impact design team supporting design across CenterWell IT, reporting to the Director, Technology Solutions while aligning on design system and overall standards with the Lead UI Designer. You’ll work closely with product, engineering, and clinical stakeholders to solve complex healthcare workflows that reduce cognitive load for care teams and provide clarity for patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end design for assigned product verticals — from discovery through pixel-perfect delivery — including workflow design, information architecture, and interface design for data-dense, human-in-the-loop clinical workflows.
  • Support and contribute to design systems, patterns, and scalable design standards.
  • Present design recommendations and rationale to stakeholders, incorporating feedback and building alignment across teams.
  • Build interactive, high-fidelity prototypes to demonstrate complex interactions and validate user flows.
  • Contribute to evolving how AI-assisted tools are incorporated into the design process as internal tooling access expands.
  • Plan and execute qualitative user research, usability testing, and feedback sessions to validate design decisions and iterate rapidly.
  • Champion WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and plain-language design principles to ensure inclusive interfaces across varying levels of digital and health literacy.
  • Design with deep sensitivity to privacy, patient trust, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on product design experience (UI/UX) delivering digital products, web applications, or complex enterprise platforms from concept to launch
  • Strong portfolio of complex, data-dense interfaces demonstrating visual hierarchy and clean execution
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Expert-level Figma skills: auto-layout, tokens, component variables, interactive prototyping
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution within established design system and standards
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and ambiguous requirements in a fast-paced, iterative environment
  • Outstanding communication skills with cross-functional stakeholder presentations and engineering tradeoff discussions
  • Demonstrated success using design to improve business/customer outcomes (patient satisfaction, engagement, retention, operational efficiency)
  • AI fluency: understanding AI-driven in-product behaviors (latency handling, confidence scoring, human-in-the-loop workflows) and interest in AI-assisted design tools
  • Ability to champion WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility and plain-language health literacy principles

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing within clinical/healthcare/health-tech environments or other regulated/high-stakes domains
  • Experience designing interfaces for complex data pipelines, dynamic real-time data, or decision-support tools

Benefits

Competitive benefits include medical, dental, and vision benefits, 401(k) retirement savings plan, time off (paid time off, company/personal holidays, paid parental and caregiver leave), short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, and other opportunities.
