Description

The selected candidate will coordinate and manage Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) programs to ensure compliance with regulations and RTX requirements, while supporting a safe workplace through continuous improvement. Responsibilities include implementing and supporting safety programs (e.g., contractor safety, confined spaces, Job Hazard Assessment, electrical safety, lockout/tagout, fall protection, machine guarding, powered industrial vehicles, cranes/hoist, fire & life safety) and acting as a technical resource for EH&S Management of Change using applicable regulatory standards.

What You Will Do

  • Coordinate with business partners for EH&S concerns regarding facilities and employee practices.
  • May have responsibility for facilities and/or medical at the site.
  • Organize and maintain EH&S policies to achieve and maintain compliance with regulations.
  • Manage relationships across specialized departments to achieve and maintain compliance with EH&S regulations and RTX requirements.
  • Support and implement safety programs including contractor safety, confined spaces, Job Hazard Assessment, electrical safety, lockout/tagout (LOTO), fall protection, machine guarding, powered industrial vehicles, cranes/hoist, training, fire & life safety, and others as assigned.
  • Serve as a technical resource to support EH&S Management of Change through design reviews by interpreting and applying OSHA, EPA, DOT, NIOSH, ANSI, NFPA, IFC, IBC and other applicable regulations and standards.
  • Monitor, administer, evaluate, and coordinate company EH&S programs to ensure a safe workplace.
  • Develop and advise employee workplace safety programs.
  • Coordinate confirmation of policies and programs in accordance with industry and government regulations.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure consistent health and safety program implementation.
  • Conduct regular site inspections for compliance with EH&S programs.
  • Serve as EHS representative for assigned building and functional safety council.
  • Conduct injury investigations and root cause analysis, develop corrective actions, and track to completion.
  • Lead projects to promote health and safety of employees and contractors.
  • Contribute to EH&S strategic initiatives that drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide instructor-led training on various safety topics.
  • Support other EH&S programs such as new chemical reviews, environmental or industrial hygiene.
  • Support upcoming internal and external audits including ADOSH VPP and other internal company assessments.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of applicable experience with a focus on safety.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Previous experience working in a government contractor environment.
  • Experience and application of regulatory EH&S requirements.
  • Experience diagnosing general and complex EH&S issues related to operations, selecting appropriate controls, and implementing effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Experience working with databases and other information gathering systems.
  • Active Secret level or higher security clearance.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP).
