Description

The role ensures safety is crafted into hardware and software products, with controls incorporated and remaining effective while maintaining compliance to safety requirements. You will review, track, and assess hardware and software changes for hazard impacts, and develop, maintain, and update safety hazard analyses. You will develop and update hazard analysis products and support development and updating of System Safety documents for customer and range safety contractual requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update hazard analysis products, including System Hazard Analyses and Safety Assessment Reports on equipment and facilities
  • Prepare presentations and participate in Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings, and various working groups and safety review meetings
  • Support the development and updating of System Safety documents to support Customer and Range Safety contractual requirements
  • Collaborate with customer safety counterparts and support weapon systems working groups
  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems
  • Conduct analyses at all levels of total system product lifecycle (concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, disposal)
  • Convert customer/product requirements into total system solutions accounting for technical, schedule, and cost constraints
  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate requirements into hardware/software specifications

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of system safety design and operations safety principles
  • Experience with one or more: hazard identification, analysis, risk mitigation, safety requirements management, and associated deliverable documentation
  • Effective communication skills for group meeting/working environments with team members, development organizations, and customers
  • US Citizenship with ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance

Desired Skills

  • Experience using MIL-STD-882E (or other relevant industry/safety standards)
  • Experience developing Safety Assessment Report (SAR) and/or other system safety assessment documentation
  • Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
