Description

The Area Business Manager engages in account-based B2B interactions with customer segments including Pediatrics, Family/General Practice, IDN/IHNs, Health Systems, and Federally Qualified Health Centers. The ABM acts as an “account orchestrator” to deliver a cohesive customer experience and improve customer/patient outcomes by leveraging cross-functional support. Responsibilities include delivering clinically focused selling messages, driving compliance with integrity, and using AI and digital tools to determine an agile ABM strategy for HCPs.

Main Responsibilities

  • Grow portfolio share and revenue and consistently deliver product goals
  • Serve as a therapeutic area expert; position and differentiate products effectively
  • Collaborate with field stakeholders (e.g., Medical Science Liaisons, Market Access, strategic account managers, Hospital business managers) to address customer needs
  • Identify market dynamics and trends; develop strategies supporting brand and corporate objectives
  • Engage with account/territory data and work with data specialists to generate insights that help HCPs operate more effectively
  • Determine optimal ABM strategy for HCPs using AI and other digital tools
  • Develop strategic business plans to generate product utilization and grow territory business
  • Understand and differentiate portfolio contracting options and compare competitive offerings through financial presentations
  • Execute a buy/bill model, including complex pricing analysis and price calculator usage, product shipping, monitoring contract compliance, and securing contract amendments
  • Adapt to changing sales methodologies, including remote selling techniques
  • Plan, organize, and execute local promotional speaker programs and activities
  • Maximize budget in the geographic territory to execute strategies and grow the business
  • Participate in and help lead initiatives supporting sales success (e.g., industry congresses, local/regional meetings, medical conferences)

About You

Minimum required skills & experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years pharmaceutical/biotech/medical device sales experience with B2B knowledge
  • Broad understanding of the healthcare environment, decision making processes, and market trends; proven track record accessing decision makers
  • Ability to succeed in a B2B environment
  • Strong commercial business acumen, strategic/critical thinking/problem solving, and innovative thinking
  • Ability to navigate a hybrid environment and determine the optimal HCP selling model
  • Experience with omnichannel approaches and executing customer engagement through appropriate channels using insights
  • Demonstrated ability to use data and data analytics to uncover actionable insights
  • Passion for science; proactive strengthening of knowledge on disease-state, treatment options, and healthcare trends
  • Ability to execute tactical initiatives, provide ongoing feedback, and prioritize multiple products
  • Self-directed and organized; excellent execution and planning skills
  • Excellent communication (written and oral)
  • Valid driver’s license; eligible for insurance; ability to safely operate a vehicle

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Graduate degree
  • 5+ years pharmaceutical/biotech/medical device sales experience with B2B experience
  • 2+ years account management experience
  • Enhanced digital acumen
  • Strong clinical acumen
  • Experience in Market Access, Pricing, Contracting, or Finance
  • Proficiency with MS Office and customer management databases

Additional Information
