Senior Backend Engineer (Poland, Remote)

Role Overview

The team focuses on the Carrier Store, a product designed to make discovering and accessing insurance carriers seamless and highly personalized. The platform uses detailed vetting forms and recommendation algorithms to connect independent agents with suitable carrier partners.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will own vetting and access automation in a core backend domain where quality is critical. You will work on high-load funnel systems, including the Discovery path, in a high-ownership environment with fast-paced priorities, complex core logic, and continuous product discovery.

What You’ll Do

• Drive Access Automation & SSO: Implement SSO solutions and API integrations to replace manual carrier processes and scale systems relying on sources ranging from raw APIs to carrier-managed Google Sheets.
• Tackle Complex Challenges: Rebuild licenses and access-sharing structures by analyzing legacy systems, defining target architecture, and executing changes safely.
• Manage Critical Funnel & Side Domains: Own critical funnel paths, including sign-up, onboarding, and producer-state automations, as well as compliance, team-member features, and legal access regulations.
• Balance High Velocity with Reliability: Handle shifting priorities and urgent compliance or SSO requests without compromising onboarding-funnel reliability.
• Communicate & Collaborate Universally: Participate in technical discussions and product discovery, translate product requirements into architecture, and potentially communicate directly with external clients.

We might be a match

• 6+ years of commercial experience in software development with deep proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, PostgreSQL, and asynchronous system architecture.
• Technological and professional maturity as a backend engineer experienced with difficult, demanding systems and complex architectural challenges.
• Strong theoretical foundation in design patterns and clean-architecture design, with close attention to detail.
• Team-oriented approach, including cooperation and mentoring, combined with independent problem-solving and strong communication skills.
• Startup mindset, high ownership, ability to prioritize under pressure, and drive to improve existing solutions.
• Growth mindset and willingness to work deeply with legacy code to introduce structural changes safely.
• Familiarity with modern LLM tools and their use in daily workflows, or strong willingness to learn.
• Based in Poland, with flexibility for partial US time-zone overlap.
• Fluent English at C1 level and Polish at C2 level.
