Pediatric Intensivist Opportunity

Currently recruiting two full-time intensivist positions; one full-time intensivist is currently supported by locums. Opportunity to assume the Medical Director position.

Staffing Model

• Three pediatric intensivists evenly share coverage; full-time schedule is approximately 10 24-hour days per month
• Pediatric nurse practitioners with PICU training and experience are in house 24/7
• Pediatric nurse practitioners provide first call for all patients
• Intensivists take call from home

The Unit

• 14-bed combined PICU and pediatric floor; all private rooms and all rooms are PICU-capable
• Pediatric nurse practitioners are primarily responsible for writing notes and orders
• Pediatric nurse practitioners and intensivists jointly care for all PICU and floor patients
• Experienced nursing staff, respiratory therapists, and physical, speech, and occupational therapists
• Diverse, large catchment area; the only PICU in northern Arizona, serving the Grand Canyon, Navajo Nation, and Arizona mountain region
• Level 1 Trauma Center
• Active surgical services, including neurosurgery, ENT, general surgery, orthopedics, and trauma
• All ventilator modalities, including HFOV; no ECMO or cardiac surgery
• Outpatient sedation service currently in development

Medical Center

• 270-bed regional medical center with specialty services and a Level 1 Trauma Center
• Special care nursery staffed by neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners
• Active birthing center
• Financially stable and growing, with a strong commitment to pediatrics and PICU

Position Requirements

• Board certified, not merely board eligible, in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine
• Post-fellowship experience; at least 5 years of attending-level experience in a large, busy PICU preferred
• Demonstrated leadership ability and experience for the Medical Director position
• H-1B and J-1 visa candidates may be hired
