IT Network Engineer

Group Technology Services (GTS) plans, builds and runs global infrastructure and provides IT service management to operating entities across Group markets. IT systems and services are operated at an appropriate, benchmarked cost level to deliver agreed service levels for business processes during normal operations and disaster recovery.

About the role

The Network Engineer contributes to the team responsible for day-to-day network operations, monitoring and project delivery. The role focuses on the design, implementation and support of business and IT applications, including setup and maintenance of production network infrastructure and configuration of network devices.

A key focus is the security review of the environment, including:

• Firewall management, rule review, implementation and cleanup
• DNS services implementation and support
• HLB and GSLB services implementation and support

The transition to Software Defined Networking is ongoing, and the global security review must incorporate this new parameter. The role requires broad knowledge of network security systems, Software Defined Networking, DNS, GSLB and HLB technologies, as well as analytical troubleshooting capability to diagnose and resolve network issues quickly with team members.

Responsibilities

• Set up, configure and support network application infrastructure, including Check Point, Palo Alto, Panorama, Infoblox and F5
• Review, implement and enhance the network environment
• Maintain documentation for corporate network implementations
• Troubleshoot network systems
• Provide network project support for enterprise and operational service upgrades and new initiatives
• Deliver required infrastructure and related documentation for infrastructure and business projects
• Perform vulnerability assessments, validation and upgrades for network systems and applications
• Maintain configuration-management and infrastructure-monitoring processes
• Optimize the current network implementation and introduce automation services
• Participate in the watch-duty role and support weekend interventions

Requirements

• 5 to 10 years of experience in network engineering or a related field
• Experience with Palo Alto and Check Point network security management systems
• Experience administering the AlgoSec Security Suite
• Strong routing and switching knowledge, including BGP, ISIS, OSPF, VRF, MPLS, GRE and IPsec
• Excellent understanding of TCP/IP protocols, DNS (Infoblox) and QoS
• Knowledge of Infoblox, F5 and Cisco ISE technologies
• Ability to develop in Python for network automation
• Analytical problem-solving ability and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
• Fluent English
• Ability to collaborate across teams, communicate clearly and follow established processes and operational procedures

Preferred and additional qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, network technology or information systems certification, or a related discipline
• SDN, Cisco ACI and EPG management experience
• French and/or Dutch
