Senior Cloud Engineer

We are looking for a highly motivated Cloud Engineer to join a new and growing Cloud Centre of Excellence team. You will support application and DevOps teams in translating architectural requirements into scalable, highly available, fault-tolerant native and hybrid-cloud designs. You will guide application and integration teams toward market best practices and solution patterns and contribute to developing and evolving the cloud platform.

Responsibilities

  • Support DevOps teams in architecting applications and directly support the Azure cloud environment.
  • Translate architecture principles into detailed technical designs for native and hybrid cloud applications.
  • Develop effective cloud infrastructure through technical oversight and implementation of security best practices.
  • Translate security requirements from Security Architects into technical designs.
  • Develop infrastructure as code on Azure using best practices and support implementations from development to production.
  • Review design specifications to ensure full understanding of individual deliverables.
  • Cooperate with application teams to support and deliver solutions and new capabilities, driving innovative issue resolution.
  • Identify issues in Azure services or the Azure platform; conduct in-depth diagnosis and share knowledge with other cloud engineers.
  • Build tools and automation to maximize cloud capabilities, including troubleshooting and diagnostic tools.
  • Cooperate with leadership on process improvements and strategic initiatives.
  • Write and update technical documentation, including user manuals, system documentation, technical standards, and training materials.

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing applications in public cloud, especially Azure.
  • Hands-on experience governing Azure, including Management Groups, Subscriptions, Azure Policies, RBAC, and Landing Zones.
  • Knowledge of traditional distributed-systems architectures, including virtualisation, Windows, Linux, storage, and containers.
  • Familiarity with Azure App Service, API Management, Azure Functions, messaging services, container-hosting services, and other Azure resources.
  • Knowledge of networking and core Internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, and distributed networks.
  • Ability to design, implement, troubleshoot, and document technical hybrid-cloud solutions.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps and Terraform.
  • Ability to migrate on-premises workloads to cloud service providers.

This is a permanent position; freelance or contract arrangements are not available.
