Job Summary

SABRE is the Analytics Booking and Risk Engine and the strategic risk and PnL platform for Financial Markets. The role supports the implementation of highly visible strategic programmes by building components within the SABRE Market Risk Platform.

Developed solutions must be scalable, robust and fault tolerant, meeting current and future business needs in a timely manner. The role also involves developing innovative solutions for early release and feedback before full-scale rollout.

The successful candidate will take ownership, responsibility and accountability for critical components, work from a mature agile background, and collaborate with business analysts, project managers, business stakeholders and technical experts across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Development Manager, Project Manager and development team to deliver Java components to internal business users.
  • Apply a systematic and disciplined approach to architecture, system design and programming.
  • Write robust code with high test coverage, following software design best practices.
  • Drive and facilitate requirements and development effort.
  • Design smart, scalable solutions in line with bank standards.
  • Coordinate with other Technology teams.
  • Develop, prepare and maintain system documentation, including program descriptions and operational procedures.
  • Provide second-line support for production issues.

Skills and Experience

  • 8+ years of hands-on development experience in investment banking IT.
  • 8+ years of Java development experience in a performance-focused concurrent environment.
  • Strong hands-on Bash or Python scripting experience.
  • Experience with Hadoop, Spark, Kafka or Scala is advantageous.
  • Functional programming language experience, such as Haskell, is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar discipline.
