Job Summary

FM Digital Channels supports the Financial Markets business with technology. Solar is a strategic, in-house pricing, execution, and trade-processing platform. The role joins an international technology team serving global financial-markets customers.

Key Responsibilities

As a Lead Java Developer/Senior Java Developer, you will join a distributed team driving a specific area of the global platform and delivering quality solutions for business-critical customer requirements. Based in Warsaw, the team collaborates with engineers, business analysts, project managers, and business stakeholders across multiple locations. You will quickly learn existing design and coding patterns, apply and evolve them collaboratively, and deliver increasingly complex projects.

The development team builds a modern platform and business applications for sales and trading teams within the Financial Markets business. You will:

• Drive scope and requirements definition.
• Design solutions and evaluate technology.
• Break down large projects into incremental deliveries.
• Build opinionated core libraries and scalable core platform services.
• Build robust services for sales-trader workflows, blotters, trader tools, analytics, and controls.
• Build automated tests to enable continuous delivery.
• See results of your work on trading desks worldwide and receive direct feedback from business users.
• Support the services you build and their users.

Skills and Experience

Technical skills:

• Versatile Java developer with strong software design principles.
• 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Expert knowledge of Core Java, Spring Framework, RxJava, REST, and reactive web services.
• Experience with microservices and container technologies, including Kubernetes, OpenShift, Helm, and Docker.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, including Azure DevOps.
• Experience with SQL databases and distributed data stores, including Oracle and Hazelcast.
• Experience with messaging technologies, including Kafka and Solace.
• Strong knowledge of design patterns and best practices.
• Ability to design solutions for complex or ambiguous business problems, including changes to existing architecture or frameworks.
• Ability to write efficient, clear, well-tested code and explain what was built and why.
• Experience building complex, real-time, event-driven distributed systems.
• Experience optimizing latency-sensitive systems.

Preferred skills:

• Financial Markets domain knowledge, preferably investment banking.

Soft skills:

• Team player able to deliver autonomously when required.
• Effective communicator, fluent in spoken and written English.
• Experience driving requirements and development efforts.
• Experience in end-to-end design, development, and support of complex systems.
• Proactive self-starter and problem solver.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent; a STEM background is preferred.
