BayCare Medical Group is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon to join a team of three cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons and four advanced practice providers. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive surgical care for patients with cardiovascular and thoracic conditions, including complex procedures, pre-operative and post-operative care, and multidisciplinary patient treatment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve repair/replacement, and lung resections.
  • Conduct pre-operative evaluations and determine appropriate surgical interventions.
  • Manage and oversee post-operative recovery, including patient monitoring and follow-up care.
  • Collaborate with cardiologists, pulmonologists, and other healthcare professionals to support optimal patient outcomes.
  • Engage in clinical research and contribute to advances in surgical techniques and treatments.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and emergency surgical procedures as required.

Qualifications

  • Board Certification in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery.
  • Completion of an accredited residency and fellowship program in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery.
  • Valid Florida medical license or eligibility for licensure.
  • Proven experience performing complex cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Commitment to high standards of patient care and safety.

Winter Haven Hospital is a 468-bed facility with a medical staff of more than 350 board-certified and board-eligible physicians. Services include stroke, open heart, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, and emergency care. The hospital is recognized as a Magnet Nursing Center of Excellence.
