About the Role
At Overstory Health, we help adults heal, grow, and thrive by offering comprehensive behavioral health care when once-a-week therapy isn't enough. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, you'll play a key role in supporting clients through some of their most challenging moments. You'll work closely with a collaborative care team to provide thoughtful psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and compassionate clinical support in both our Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient programs.
What You'll Do
Provide Psychiatric Care
- Complete psychiatric evaluations and intake assessments for new clients
- Create and guide individualized treatment plans in partnership with the care team
- Prescribe and manage medications, monitor for effectiveness and side effects, and adjust as needed
- Offer support in clinical crises and help manage complex behavioral health needs
Support Ongoing Health & Recovery
- Monitor mental and physical health status, including vital signs and symptoms
- Oversee medication self-administration during programming and ensure safe handling of client medications
- Educate clients and families on diagnoses, medications, and self-care strategies
- Participate in individual check-ins and therapeutic groups when appropriate
Work as Part of a Collaborative Team
- Partner with therapists, social workers, and care coordinators to provide integrated, team-based care
- Attend daily scheduled treatment team meetings and case reviews to discuss progress and adjust plans
- Coordinate with outside providers and resources to support continuity of care and smooth transitions
Document & Lead with Accountability
- Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in the EMR
- Uphold the highest standards for ethical, trauma-informed, and culturally competent care
- Stay current on best practices in psychiatric care and participate in ongoing learning and development
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) and board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
- Active, unrestricted licensure and DEA certification
- Experience working with clients in behavioral health settings such as PHP or IOP
- Deep knowledge of psychiatric medications, diagnoses, and evidence-based treatment
- Experience working in EMRs and adapting to new technologies
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
