This critical care position provides advanced medical care for hospitalized patients in the CICU. Successful candidates will provide exceptional patient care in a multidisciplinary setting, demonstrate teamwork with midlevel providers, and increase academic productivity. The ICU includes cardiovascular surgical, thoracic/esophageal surgical, and cardiac patients. Experience and/or interest in managing patients with advanced circulatory support devices (VA and VV ECMO, Impellas, Protech Duos, balloon pumps, etc.) is essential. Advanced training in ECMO cannulation and participation in a Cardiovascular Shock Team will be incorporated into this practice. Hands-on training and education are offered to those interested in providing state-of-the-art care to patients requiring Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS). Faculty appointments are available, along with research, quality improvement, and patient advocacy opportunities.
