Job Description

Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Norton Thoracic Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center is seeking an Intensivist for the Cardiothoracic ICU (CICU). This critical care position provides advanced medical care for hospitalized patients in the CICU. Successful candidates will provide exceptional patient care in a multidisciplinary setting, demonstrate teamwork with midlevel providers, and increase academic productivity. The ICU includes cardiovascular surgical, thoracic/esophageal surgical, and cardiac patients.

Experience and/or interest in managing patients with advanced circulatory support devices (VA and VV ECMO, Impellas, Protech Duos, balloon pumps, etc.) is essential. Advanced training in ECMO cannulation and participation in a Cardiovascular Shock Team will be incorporated into this practice. Hands-on training and education are offered to those interested in providing state-of-the-art care to patients requiring Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS).

Faculty appointments are available, along with research, quality improvement, and patient advocacy opportunities.

Job Requirements

  • MD or DO Degree and Board Certification
  • Completed ACGME Residency training with current ABMS Board Certification
  • Completed ACGME Fellowship training with current (or eligible) ABMS Board Certification in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine or Critical Care Medicine
  • Ability to achieve full and unrestricted hospital/surgical privileges
  • Must obtain Arizona State medical licensure prior to starting the position
