Marshfield Children’s Hospital

Our 56-bed Children's Hospital is Central Wisconsin's only accredited pediatric hospital, and one of only four in Wisconsin. It is equipped with the latest technology, more than 40 pediatric specialties and board-certified pediatric hospitalists, intensivists, and neonatologists. Certified child life specialists ensure children receive the emotional support they may need to cope with their treatment during their hospital stay.

The hospital has a 24-bed level 3 NICU with 24/7 neonatology support and normal newborn nursery; an 8-bed PICU with 24/7 pediatric intensivist support including sedation services; 26-bed pediatric acute beds including 8-bed Heme-Onc positive pressure rooms and 24/7 pediatric hospitalist support. Marshfield Children’s is an ACS Verified Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Program and a member of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG).

The Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology provides care to more than 30,000 children annually in perioperative anesthesia, critical care, and pain medicine settings. Our pediatric anesthesiologists practice in a collaborative and supportive environment with world-class surgical and medical staff to provide opportunities for developing clinical excellence in a range of subspecialty services, that are integral in the academic, research, educational, and quality improvement missions of the institutions. Opportunity with Pediatric Anesthesiology - Join an anesthesia service that currently consists of 35 pediatric anesthesiologists with 8 of those specializing in cardiac care, and 12 advanced practice providers that practice at both CW’s Milwaukee Campus and regional sites surrounding Milwaukee. - Our group of dedicated pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists works exclusively in the cardiac care setting: providing care for 400+ heart surgeries, and 350+ cardiac catheterization procedures annually. - Comprehensive pediatric cardiac care within the Herma Heart Institute (HHI), part of the Forward Pediatric Alliance with UW-Health. Patient populations encompass the spectrum of critical congenital heart disease from hypoplastic left heart syndrome, adult congenital heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, cardiac transplantation and ventricular assist devices. - Dedicated 24 bed CVICU with full time, in-house, cardiac intensivist coverage. - Engage in state-of-the-art innovative research and quality programs supported by the broader HHI and FPA. - Engage in a busy practice that includes both OR as well as non-OR sites at CW’s Milwaukee Campus with a team of fellowship-trained Pediatric Anesthesiologists and a growing team of medically directed Anesthesiology Assistants and Certified Registered Nursing Assistants. - Provide leadership and guidance to cardiac and perioperative team members to optimize patient care safety, quality, and efficiency. - Contribute to the clinical education of pediatric fellows, residents, medical students and other trainees. - Focus on a patient-centered approach to delivery of care and engage in a climate of inquiry and safety. - Participate in the academic, research and educational missions of the institution. - Build positive relationships with surgeons, proceduralists, nurses, technicians and other stakeholders.
