Job Overview

The Staff Systems Administrator on the IT Operations Endpoint Engineering team is the organization’s top-tier technical authority responsible for setting strategy and technical directions ensuring the endpoint ecosystem is secure, scalable, and operationally excellent. Endpoint Engineering handles managing and securing entry points to company technology to protect from cyber threats and ensure endpoints run optimally for productivity.

Job Description and Requirements

Key Responsibilities

1) Enterprise Endpoint Architecture & Technical Strategy

  • Define and steward endpoint architecture patterns across management, security, deployment, and compliance, ensuring solutions optimize for scale and end-user experience.

  • Provide technical leadership across major endpoint roadmap initiatives (e.g., Intune optimization, Autopilot improvements, Defender/Intune integration, endpoint analytics).

  • Establish “gold standard” implementation patterns and guardrails that reduce fragmentation and improve reliability across the endpoint fleet.

2) Endpoint Security Baselines, Hardening, and Least Privilege Leadership

  • Lead design and implementation of endpoint hardening and baseline configuration approaches across platforms and endpoints.

  • Drive least privileged outcomes through engineered controls and governance models.

  • Ensure endpoint security controls are engineered to be enforceable, measurable, and sustainable at scale.

3) Cross-Functional Delivery Leadership

  • Partner with Security using a shared delivery model that emphasizes tracking, documentation, auditability, and mutual technical alignment for baseline/security initiatives.

  • Ensure security and endpoint initiatives are executed through disciplined work management (e.g., ticket-based initiation, documented remediation plans, operational readiness, and validated testing).

4) Platform Engineering & Operational Excellence

  • Configure enforcement, remediations, reporting, and repeatable deployment pipelines to reduce operational toil and improve consistency.

  • Establish standards for staged rollouts and enforcement readiness gates to minimize disruption and avoid reversals of controls due to missing prerequisites.

5) Highest-Tier Escalation, Incident Leadership, and Problem Resolution

  • Function as the final technical escalation point for complex endpoint incidents, systemic fleet issues, and security-impacting endpoint failures; lead root-cause analysis and durable corrective action.

  • Mentor engineers and partner teams by setting troubleshooting standards, escalation hygiene, and operational runbook quality.

6) Standards, Documentation, and Knowledge Systems

  • Own the endpoint engineering “source of truth” expectations: high-quality runbooks, standards, and operational documentation that enable consistency and reduce dependency on tribal knowledge.

  • Produce executive-ready technical artifacts when needed to support security and IT leadership decision-making.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Demonstrated senior/principal-level experience using endpoint platforms and security controls in an enterprise environment, with accountability for reliability and security outcomes.

  • Proven ability to lead cross-team initiatives spanning IT Operations and Security, with strong execution discipline and documented operating models.

  • Strong ability to design and implement enforceable endpoint security baselines and least privilege controls.
