Description

You will partner with product, operations, and support teams to design, build, and maintain the backend systems that power the LabArchives suite of products. The work includes iteratively planning, building, testing, and releasing backend features primarily in Node.js, while also contributing to the existing Ruby on Rails codebase as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs

  • Plan, build, test, and release new backend features

  • Read, understand, and contribute to the Ruby on Rails codebase

  • Create and maintain a robust unit test suite and expand automation testing

  • Participate in code reviews, security audits, and performance/scalability evaluations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent education and 9+ years of experience

  • Strong server-side development with Node.js (APIs and services)

  • Experience with synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns

  • Ability to work with Ruby (preferably Ruby on Rails)

  • Familiarity with database design, query optimization, and data modeling

  • Grounding in object-oriented and functional programming paradigms

  • Working knowledge of modern JavaScript (ES6+) and RESTful API design

  • Ability to collaborate closely with product, operations, and support teams
