Description

Serve as an Electrical Engineer performing independent assignments using professional judgment. You will design and analyze electrical equipment and special electrical communication/electronic features for Civil Works Projects, ensuring contractor work meets requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop preliminary and final electrical design and layout for equipment and special electrical communication/electronic features
• Use Revit and AutoCAD for CADD-based contract plans and drawings
• Check shop drawings and descriptive literature for compliance
• Perform electrical calculations to confirm proposed materials and equipment are suitable
• Review detailed design and analysis, plans, and specifications from Electrical Design Section and A–E contractors
• Conduct field site inspections and provide electrical observations on operation, condition, and evaluations
• Independently design and program PLCs for industrial control systems
• Complete arc flash studies using Etap, SKM, or EasyPower
• Prepare technical correspondence explaining actions and changes to contractor submittals
• Assist with preparation of specifications for special systems and equipment

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship
• Electrical engineering education requirement: ABET-accredited engineering degree OR alternative qualifying education based on calculus and engineering science coursework (or acceptable equivalent education/experience combination)
• GS-11: 1 year specialized experience in electrical engineering design focused on installation of electrical power systems (power distribution systems, service feeds, switchgear, motor control centers, and/or industrial civil works control systems)
• GS-12: 1 year specialized experience performing electrical design and analysis for power distribution systems and development of civil works industrial control systems
• Valid state-issued motor vehicle driver’s license
• TDY/business travel requirement of 15%
• Subject to background investigation suitability/fitness determination
