Description

Provide technical leadership to define and evolve the platform’s technical architecture and long-term roadmap. You will guide backend Java and Spring Boot services and React frontend applications, design event-driven and high-throughput data pipelines with Apache Kafka, and lead integration and data architecture patterns involving Snowflake and third-party APIs. You will also evaluate and lead secure, practical AI/LLM (including RAG) integration into engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the platform’s technical architecture and long-term roadmap
• Provide technical leadership across backend services (Java, Spring Boot) and frontend apps (React)
• Design scalable event-driven architectures and high-throughput data pipelines using Apache Kafka
• Guide data architecture and integration patterns with Snowflake and other analytical systems
• Lead architecture for complex third-party integrations (APIs, authentication, data mapping, reliability, versioning, failure handling)
• Establish architectural standards for service boundaries, data contracts, observability, security, and performance
• Strengthen CI/CD practices, deployment automation, testing strategy, and release reliability
• Collaborate with product, data, security, operations, and engineering leaders on tradeoffs and decisions
• Review designs and mentor engineers and technical leads to improve engineering quality
• Identify and address technical risks, scalability constraints, architectural debt, and operational bottlenecks
• Evaluate AI and LLM technologies and lead their secure integration where they add measurable value
• Communicate technical strategy, options, and tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Requirements

• 15+ years experience; 4 years recent Architect experience
• Experience designing/evolving production software architectures in a principal/staff-equivalent leadership role
• Strong hands-on Java and Spring Boot experience in distributed, production-scale systems
• React experience and modern web application architecture
• Event-driven systems and large-scale streaming/data pipelines using Apache Kafka
• Cloud data warehousing knowledge with practical Snowflake experience
• Experience architecting and operating third-party platform and API integrations
• CI/CD, automated testing, deployment strategies, and production operations knowledge
• SaaS experience including multi-tenancy plus security/availability/scalability/serviceability considerations
• Ability to lead through technical influence and collaborate across boundaries
• Excellent communication, decision-making, and technical documentation skills
