Description

Design, develop, and maintain backend functionality for mission-driven applications using Python, Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, OpenSearch, and PostgreSQL. Build and maintain REST APIs with request validation, error handling, and authentication/authorization integrations, using Pydantic and SQLAlchemy. Investigate and resolve production issues across backend services, database, and deployments while collaborating with customers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services and REST APIs

• Implement request validation, error handling, and auth integration

• Use Pydantic for data validation and SQLAlchemy for ORM/database access

• Design PostgreSQL schemas, queries, indexes, and migrations with performance and data integrity in mind

• Build and troubleshoot Docker images; deploy and manage applications on OpenShift

• Troubleshoot production issues across UI, backend, database, and deployment layers

• Clarify requirements, dependencies, and estimate implementation effort with customers and product owners

• Participate in technical design/code reviews; write automated tests; maintain technical documentation

• Mentor developers and collaborate with operations and security teams

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Poly

• 5+ years of professional experience with a Bachelor's degree (additional experience may substitute for degree)

• Strong backend and REST API development experience

• Hands-on Python backend application development

• PostgreSQL proficiency: relational data modeling, SQL, schema migrations, indexing, query optimization

• OpenSearch knowledge: data structures, indexing, querying

• Docker experience: Dockerfiles, building images, troubleshooting containers

• Strong communication skills to translate business/customer needs into technical requirements
