Description

You will turn loosely defined business and technical problems into production systems that keep Linux environments secure and supported, including operating systems and tools that have passed their standard lifecycle. The role spans multiple projects within one product area and you may act as the primary engineer on initiatives. Delivery cycles are short, so you’ll work independently and own your solutions from design through release and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Take unclear business and technical problems from initial idea to production solution

• Clarify requirements and align technical plans with business and product stakeholders

• Design architecture and make key technical decisions

• Implement and ship backend code, primarily in Python

• Define scope, priorities, and trade-offs

• Build products that keep Linux infrastructure secure and supported, including post-lifecycle systems

• Move between projects within the product area as the primary engineer when needed

• Monitor solutions after release and iterate using technical, product, and business metrics

• Debug, prototype, and review code as part of daily engineering

• Use AI-assisted tools throughout development and validate AI output before shipping

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including Staff, Principal, or Tech Lead level work

• Strong, recent hands-on backend development experience

• Proficiency in Python (or another backend/systems language such as Go, Java, Rust, or C++) with readiness to make Python primary

• Practical Linux knowledge

• Track record delivering a project/feature from idea through production release and support

• Experience partnering with business and product stakeholders to convert ambiguity into technical plans

• Strong architecture and technical decision-making with hands-on implementation

• Experience defining scope, priorities, and trade-offs

• Experience monitoring and iterating after release using metrics

• Experience working in both startups and larger established companies

• Active use of AI-assisted development tools with a validation mindset

• Excellent English communication skills

Nice to Have

• Cybersecurity/application security experience

• Vulnerability management, security patching, or CVE-related experience

• Software supply chain security familiarity

• OS internals or low-level Linux development experience

• Open-source contributions

• Developer tooling experience
