Description

Own the mechanical design of robotic arms end to end—joints, actuators, transmissions, structures, and end effectors. Design actuated joints and drivetrains for torque density, backdrivability, weight, stiffness, and durability, then integrate motors, gearing, bearings, and sensors into compact manufacturable assemblies. Prototype quickly (3D printing, CNC), validate with tolerance stack-ups, GD&T, FEA, and scale the design using DFM/DFA with suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design of robotic arms end to end (joints, actuators, transmissions, structures, end effectors)

• Design actuated joints and drivetrains to meet torque density, backdrivability, weight, stiffness, and durability goals

• Integrate motors, harmonic/cycloidal/quasi-direct-drive gearing, bearings, and sensors into compact manufacturable assemblies

• Run tolerance stack-ups, GD&T, FEA, and fastener/bearing selection

• Prototype with 3D printing and CNC; drive DFM/DFA with suppliers to scale to the factory floor

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field

• 5+ years shipping electromechanical hardware with a bachelor’s OR 3+ years with a master’s

• Hands-on robotic arm/manipulator and actuated joint/gripper design experience

• Expert in SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or Onshape with GD&T and tolerance analysis

• Track record taking designs from concept to validated hardware that shipped

• US work authorization required; no visa sponsorship
