Description

Design, operate, and maintain mechanical infrastructure that powers large-scale cloud data centers and online services. Serve as a technical authority for on-site operations of large-scale mechanical systems, collaborating with Operations and Design to develop mechanical designs from project conception through Issue for Construction (IFC) for new builds and major upgrades. Support 24x7x365 datacenter operations while maintaining safety, security, and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Promote a culture of safety, security, and compliance across data center activities

• Understand datacenter design and mechanical functionality

• Work with IT and Critical Environments teams to support 24x7x365 on-site datacenter operations and mechanical infrastructure

• Provide technical authority for on-site operations of large-scale mechanical systems and designs

• Collaborate on data center mechanical designs from conception through IFC for new builds and major infrastructure upgrades

• Establish and coordinate maintenance and safety procedures for redundant high-capacity cooling systems and backup electrical systems (e.g., diesel generators, rotary UPS)

• Steward vital infrastructure supporting deployments of online services

• Assist with supplier selection and oversee mechanical supplier execution

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field OR equivalent experience

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter

Benefits

• Base pay range (U.S., typical): USD $85,400–$168,100 per year; other location ranges may apply (e.g., San Francisco Bay area and NYC metro: USD $111,100–$183,700)
