Quick Facts

  • Role: Fiber Optics Integration Engineer

  • Focus: Rack-level optical connectivity integration for AI, HPC, cloud, and networking solutions

Description

Lead fiber optic architecture, integration, troubleshooting, qualification, and deployment activities for next-generation AI, HPC, cloud, and networking rack solutions. Ensure successful end-to-end optical connectivity by developing fiber cabling standards, installation procedures, routing strategies, optical validation plans, and root cause analysis methods. Serve as a key technical resource across the product lifecycle, supporting customers, manufacturing sites, compliance teams, and engineering organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Own optical connectivity integration across rack-level solutions (transceivers, DACs, AOCs, fiber trunks, breakout assemblies, patch panels, switch-to-server interconnects)

  • Develop and maintain fiber routing, bundling, strain relief, labeling, installation, and serviceability standards for air- and liquid-cooled racks

  • Lead root cause investigations for optical communication failures during prototype validation, factory test, shipment, deployment, and customer operation

  • Support customer escalations on optical performance, transceiver compatibility, link instability, signal degradation, and deployment failures

  • Establish troubleshooting and failure-analysis methodologies using OTDR, optical power meters, BER testing, insertion-loss measurements, switch diagnostics, and transceiver telemetry

  • Create rack-level fiber optic installation guides, work instructions, service manuals, qualification plans, and best practices documentation

  • Collaborate with networking, electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to optimize fiber routing and ensure manufacturability and field serviceability

  • Support qualification/validation testing, including transportation, shock, vibration, and environmental testing while maintaining optical performance

  • Partner with compliance/certification teams for UL, CE, NFPA, and other regulatory requirements

  • Participate in customer meetings, technical reviews, onsite deployments, and data center visits

  • Work with transceiver suppliers, switch vendors, cable manufacturers, and networking partners to resolve interoperability issues

  • Support factory test development and manufacturing procedures to ensure consistent installation quality and repeatable system performance

  • Train manufacturing, field service, and customer teams on approved fiber handling and installation practices

  • Drive continuous improvement to improve reliability and reduce field failures

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Optical Engineering, Networking Technology, or related technical field

  • 5+ years of experience in optical networking/fiber optic systems/transceivers/data center infrastructure

  • Root cause analysis and field troubleshooting experience for fiber optic communications

  • Hands-on experience with SFP, QSFP, OSFP, or emerging high-speed optical interfaces

  • Customer field deployment and escalation management experience

  • Experience developing installation/troubleshooting procedures and technical documentation

  • Strong verbal and written communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

  • Ability to influence design decisions using technical expertise and data-driven recommendations

  • Travel up to 25% domestically and internationally

Benefits

  • Eligible for a short-term incentive based on performance

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • Paid time off (3.07 hours accrual in first year)

  • 4 weeks paid parental leave

  • Company-paid holidays (11 in 2027; subject to change)

  • 401(k) retirement plan

  • Employee stock purchase plan
