Description

Provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for obstetrical and gynecological patients. Conduct ongoing assessment of maternal and fetal status, labor progress, and interventions, and communicate patient management strategies during rounds and conferences. Design, direct, and evaluate quality improvement methodologies and provide oversight and preceptorship to students and newly hired nurse midwives.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and treat obstetrical and gynecological patients

• Monitor maternal and fetal status; track labor progress and interventions

• Participate in patient care rounds and conferences; present cases/topics and management strategies

• Design, direct, and evaluate quality improvement methodologies

• Provide oversight, instruction, and preceptorship to nurse midwifery, NP, PA, and medical students and newly hired nurse midwives

Requirements

• US citizenship

• Graduate or higher degree in Midwifery from an accredited program (transcripts required)

• Current, active, full, unrestricted RN license/registration and passed NCLEX

• APRN licensure in Midwifery (or related specialty)

• At least one year of relevant professional nursing experience (or eligible exemption)

Conditions of Employment

• TB testing required

• Maintain BLS certification (American Red Cross); may be required to obtain/maintain ACLS and NRP

• Rotating shifts may be required

• Background investigation/suitability and periodic re-verification (includes recurring interaction with individuals under 18)

• Seasonal influenza vaccination consent or recognized exemption

• Testing-designated position: consent to random drug testing (urinalysis)

• Pre-placement medical examination and immunization screening (Hepatitis B required for direct patient contact)

• Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate clinical privileges/credentialing

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; may include shift work (evenings/weekends/holidays)
