Description

Serve as the lead Java developer assisting with understanding and redeveloping legacy COBOL code into Java. The role can flex across solution consulting, technical leadership, and project management, while delivering full lifecycle Java implementations. Successful completion may open additional code rewrite opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Lead Java development for the primary assignment
• Collaborate with developers to deliver Java solutions replacing business-critical legacy COBOL functions
• Apply best practices and help establish/refine coding standards
• Work in an agile/iterative environment and provide evidence of progress
• Write, test, and document application components
• Design, code, and implement Java application code
• Test stability and functionality; troubleshoot and fix bugs
• Maintain security and integrity of applications
• Prepare documentation (flowcharts, narratives, code comments) and provide technical training
• Coordinate programming activities and work with business/technical teams to resolve feasibility and intent issues
• Determine and implement necessary modifications/enhancements
