Description

Work as a lead Java developer to understand and redevelop legacy COBOL code in Java. You will design, code, test, document, and troubleshoot Java application components that provide business-critical functions. The role may be extended based on successful performance through 6-30-2027.

Responsibilities

• Serve as lead Java developer on the primary assignment
• Collaborate with developers and IT/business stakeholders to deliver solutions
• Apply best practices and help establish/refine coding standards
• Work in an agile/iterative manner and demonstrate progress regularly
• Write, test, and document application components
• Determine solution approach with subject matter experts
• Design, code, and implement Java application code
• Ensure application stability and fix bugs
• Maintain security and integrity of application software
• Create documentation (flowcharts, narratives, code comments) and provide technical training

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Java (8/11/17+) and Object-Oriented Design (OOD)
• Expertise with Spring/Spring Boot and Hibernate/JPA
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and microservices
• Proficiency with relational databases (MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server)
• Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Maven, Gradle)
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) is highly valued
• Desired: JavaScript framework/SPAs such as Angular 4+
• Strong communication and leadership; ability to coordinate across teams and stakeholders
