Description

Staff Software Engineer to design, build, and ship agent-first software delivery services that install and update applications on hundreds of thousands of Mac and Windows computers. You will lead AI-agent-driven development through clear, testable specs and review for correctness and security, and ensure staged rollouts with automated health checks that halt unhealthy releases. You will also own architecture and security for the device agent and backend services and drive production readiness from pilot to enterprise-wide rollout.

Responsibilities

• Build and own core services across Go, C#, Node.js, and React, backed by SQL and Azure Cosmos DB

• Lead how the team builds with AI coding agents: write specs, break work into agent-sized tasks, set up repository context and guardrails, and prove output through tests and review

• Design staged rollouts and health checks that automatically halt a release when results look unhealthy

• Own architecture and security design for the device agent and backend services, including device identity, certificates, secure communication, and audit logging

• Review the highest-risk changes (including AI-generated code) and coach engineers to evaluate it critically

• Lead production readiness from pilot through enterprise rollout: monitoring, load testing, failure handling, and rollback

• Partner with Mac, Windows, security, and product teams to remove blockers

• Mentor engineers at every level and support their growth

Requirements

• Hands-on experience shipping production software primarily through AI coding agents (spec-driven development and critical review of agent output)

• Experience building with LLM APIs and/or agent-to-agent integrations (MCP supported)

• Strong production experience in at least one of Go, C#, or Node.js; ability to work across all three

• Experience building web front ends with React

• Experience designing data models for relational SQL and document databases such as Azure Cosmos DB

• Deep experience designing and running large-scale cloud-based distributed services

• Experience building software that runs on Mac and Windows (e.g., device agents or deployment tools)

• Strong security judgment: device identity, certificates, and audit logging

• Experience with testable architecture and test-driven development

• Experience setting technical direction across multiple products or teams

• Clear writing for engineers and senior leaders

• Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field + 4 years of software engineering experience, or 6 years of software engineering experience

• Preferred: knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards, assistive technologies, and accessibility best practices

• Preferred: Master’s degree in a related field + 2 years of software engineering experience
