Description

Design, develop, and maintain backend services for large-scale distributed systems, including APIs (RESTful or gRPC) and DNS-based services. Contribute to system architecture, data modeling, and service design to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance. Optimize for high-throughput, low-latency workloads and support production operations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services for distributed systems

• Participate in system architecture, service design, and data modeling

• Provide guidance on system design and implementation across multiple services

• Design and implement RESTful or gRPC APIs for internal and external platform services

• Develop and optimize systems for high-throughput, low-latency workloads; deploy, monitor, and operate services in production

• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment

• Analyze and improve system performance, reliability, and fault tolerance

• Design, implement, and operate DNS-based services (DNS record lifecycle management, caching strategies, traffic routing policies)

• Collaborate with engineering, product, and operations to deliver technical solutions

• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues; support ongoing system operations

• Document system design, architecture, and operational procedures

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or U.S. equivalent) in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or related field

• 5+ years developing and operating mission-critical software platforms

• 5+ years backend development in Java for large-scale distributed, high-availability environments

• 5+ years building modular, service-oriented architectures using frameworks including Spring Boot

• 5+ years designing and implementing RESTful and gRPC APIs for high-throughput, low-latency workloads

• 5+ years working with cloud infrastructure (AWS) including deployment, scalability, availability, and resiliency

• 5+ years with relational and NoSQL databases, including distributed data modeling and performance optimization

• 5+ years implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with automated testing and deployment

• 5+ years designing distributed systems including service discovery, load balancing, fault tolerance, and observability

• 2+ years designing DNS architecture and networking fundamentals including DNS record management, caching behavior, and traffic routing
