Description

Lead the design and development of large-scale distributed and microservices systems for a high-reliability financial investment platform. Own long-term technical architecture strategy and build cloud-native, cross-system solutions with strong standards for security, observability, and reliability. Mentor senior engineers and drive critical refactors and new initiatives with end-to-end delivery ownership.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve distributed/microservices architecture for high scale and reliability
• Participate in building and improving critical systems
• Define and drive long-term technical strategy and architectural roadmap
• Design cross-system solutions in a cloud-native environment
• Uphold high standards across security, observability, and reliability
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Security, and DevOps for end-to-end delivery
• Mentor Senior Engineers and raise technical standards organization-wide
• Participate in zero-to-one initiatives and critical system refactoring
• Promote modern engineering practices (DevOps, AI automation, security by design)

Requirements

• 8+ years designing and building high-availability distributed systems
• Very strong Java and/or Kotlin with Spring Boot
• Experience with microservices architecture and cloud-native systems
• Experience with AWS (ECS, Fargate, Lambda or similar)
• Strong system design and ability to make trade-off decisions (REST vs gRPC vs GraphQL; sync vs async; SQL vs NoSQL)
• Production experience at high scale with reliability requirements
• You-build-it-you-run-it approach; DevOps experience with CI/CD and Docker
• Security practices knowledge (JWT, OAuth2) and Shift Left Security
• Experience in regulated environments (fintech/banking is a major advantage)
• Ability to communicate complex technical topics with technical and business stakeholders (English B2+)
• Mentoring experience; work at Staff/Principal/Senior level with high influence
• Nice-to-have: experience using AI/ML tools in development (code generation, test automation, CI/CD automation)
